What we would do is to take a race, look through the whole field and when we see more than a third of the field that have winning chances we would scrap that race and move on to the next one. When we have found a race with no more than three horses we considered to have more ability than the others, we then try to work out which one of these horses has the edge taking into consideration a range of factors such as weight carried, fitness, barrier draws, track aversion, to name just a few. We will then determine their optimal odds needed and give them appropriate ratings with 1, 2 or 3 stars.
